Tire choices

ok guys here is my perdiciment I want to go to a larger and significantly more agressive tire that is still going to last and not to mention have a decent load rating! I know quite a package huh! anyway so far the one I have come up with is the Dunlop Mud rover a 285/75/16 is 112 bucks and its a real agressive look and the reviews sound pretty decent do you think that these tires will look good and fit well with no turning problems "I have a 99 250 V10 fyi" and do you guys think that a D load rating is enough for the guy like me who ocasionally pulls the gooseneck or fifthwheel trailer and pulls 4 snowmobiles about 1000 miles once or twice a year. I farm and like 2 be able to show up the cocky chevy boys around here so thats y I want to go for the agressive tread so thanks guys and im open to all sugestions

The tires you suggest are pretty good. Here is a suggestion:

Mickey Thompson ®Baja Claw ®Radial
Part #5766
Size: LT305/70R16 (33x12.50-16)
Load range: D
Weight Rating: 2910 lbs

*** According to MT...this size tire will fit with no modifications (ie: stock height) ***

These have good wear ratings and do a great job off-road and a good job down the highway.

Another option:
The BFG Mud- Terrain T/A KM
Part #: 417-185
Size: LT285/75R16
Load Range: D
Weight rating: 3305 lbs @65psi

Keep in mind that with each tire rated at 2910 lbs or 3305 lbs, that means you can not exceed 11640 lbs or 13220 lbs. So if you take the weight of the truck and estimate the pulling weight, you ?might? be ok. Do the numbers first...with whatever tire you choose.

Good luck...

Wal-Mart has their "Liberator" A/T tire in that same size for ~ $100 each. Had a set on a 4.0L H.O. '91 Jeep Wrangler. Ended up selling it after only about 10K on the tires, but they showed NO wear at all. For economy's sake, you might consider the Liberator then...

I just had my shop order some of the 285 Revos for my Crew Cab 4x4. The 285s only come in load range D, not E. However, at full air pressure the D range 285s are rated at 3,300 lbs compared to the 3,415 lbs of my stock 265 Es.

I should have the new Revos on in a day or two and will give a report back. Just remember, air pressure is the key to the number of pounds you can carry. Like the tire guy said, "These are not your wife's sedan tires which always run at 32 PSI." Air them up for loads and you have the option of lower pressure when empty to make it smoother.

I run GoodYear AT/S 285-75-16 D . They are excellent on Logging roads, paved ,rain and snow. Most working trucks use them in our area. 2nd choice for alot of people in my area has been GoodYear WorkHorse Extra Grip.

May not be what your looking for but these tires do excellent in our area.

This is a quote from the tire safety website regarding ply/load range.

http://www.tiresafety.com/size_class....htm#plyrating

Ply Rating/Load Range
While there is no industry-wide definition of ply rating, truck tires are frequently marked with ply rating and equivalent Load Range. These markings are used to identify the load and inflation limits of that particular tire, when used in a specific type of service. The table shows the conversion of tire markings.

The number is the number of plys the tire has, and the letter corresponds to the respective Load Range. So while a D range tire may be rated for the same amount of weight as a Load range E tire, it is not as thick. The Load Range E tire may be able to handle more abuse due to the higher number plys. Hope this helps.
