I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH ALL MY ELEC.WINDOW SWITCHES.I CLEANED THEM AND MOST OF THE TIME THEY DON'T WORK.I HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE I CLEANED THEM.I'M ALSO LOOKING FOR A SEAL FOR MY FAC.INST.SUNROOF.YES IT LEAKS AND REALY BAD WHEN IT RAINS.DEALER SAID THEY STOPED MAKING THEM IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR.WHERE CAN I FIND ONE?CAN ANYONE HELP WITH EITHER PROBLEM?
Check your window switch for power, I think it's the large yellow wire with a green tracer, should have power when accessories on. The switch panel is pushed into the armrest. GENTLY pry at the end with a small screwdriver and switch panel should pop up to test.
Make sure you have your power mirror recall done. This recall puts a 10 amp fuse on the power mirror ciruit so when water gets into the mirror switch it doesn't start an electricial fire in your door. Call your dealer and give them your VIN and they can tell you if it has, or has not been done.
And BTW if you got power to the switch, and a good ground, windows should work. Otherwise needs new switch.
If you are a little adventurous and don't mind getting into things, you can probably fix the switch yourself. Loosen the screws holding the switch to the wiring, and take it to your workbench. Carefully unsnap the ears on the sides of the switch body, keeping the internal parts in place. Use a piece of 400 grit sandpaper about 1/2" wide. Fold it over so that both surfaces will sand (like 2 sided tape). Gently pull it back and forth between the point contacts with one hand while applying slight pressure on the contacts with the other. Make several passes this way on all the contacts. Reassemble the switch and check it out.
