I'm installing my 4th Frantz on my Powerstroke as a coolant filter.. I'm not sure how I want to plumb it.. I was thinking to "T" into the heater hose coming off the block as the supply and "T" back into the heater hose returning to the water pump. I'm not sure how the pressure works within the cooling system.. Is there the same pressure within all hoses.. Such as... is there the same pressure in the heater hose supply line as there is in the return line?? Is the water pump "pushing" as well as "drawing" the coolant..
Can I use the heater supply line and return into the degas bottle? Or does the heater return line help draw the fluid too..
You can "T" into the degas bottle for the return. Here is a picture. I suppose since the heater core is unrestricted you could use either one as a feed for your filter. Do you have something in the empty port on the water pump, see here, that's what I used to feed the filter.
Since all pumps do is move fluid, I'll say that the system pressure will be the same no mater where you tap it.

I just finished up the installation.. I put a "T" on the heater supply line and
returned to the degas bottle.. Seems to be working just fine..
Cool. That filter is going to load up pretty quickly, you will be amazed at how much castng sand and stuff is floating around in te system. I wouldn't go more than a month on that first filter.

Did you take any pic's of the install?
Yes I have pics.. I will post them to my webshots page in the near future
and post that link here.. I'm looking forward to the first element change on the coolant filter, I will inspect the element at 500 miles.. I'm sure it will be filthy.. It is filtering very slow though, Appx. 1/4 qrt per minute. Alot of restriciton in the element and not as much pressure like the engine or tranny has.. I will also take photos of the other filters as well and post them all side by side..
