goto run, in the box type "CMD" and press enter, this will bring up a terminal window (dos prompt for you non *nix users), and type IPCONFIG.... this will tell you your current IP.

One problem with dial up accounts is that your IP can change every time you dial in but it usually stays in a given range of addresses.

IPCONFIG , will give you your internal IP address , if your on an ADSL ,BB, cable , connection , the *real* ip address will be different to the internal one as your router will dish out an internal address to your computer .
You could go into your router to find the external address .
Or..

To find your external IP address go here http://www.whatismyip.com/
This will give you your external address as given by your ISP .

An internal IP addie as shown by IPCONFIG is useless as it's a non routable address on the internet , so you need the external one .

Hope you can follow that :-)

That is true if you are using a router or some other type of proxy/NAT appliance. If you are just using a cable/DSL modem, you can get your IP via the IPCONFIG command in windoze, or ifconfig command in linux/unix/mac(?).
