Does anybody recall a Buick Wildcat? They lasted from 1962-70 and those were nice cars, wasn't the Wildcat similar to the Chevrolet Impala/Pontiac Catalina/Oldsmobile Jetstar 88/Dynamic 88?
WILDCAT it was in a class of its own,you could smoke the tires until they poped Leadsleads 3 tons of fast you could bury the speedo in no time flat!!!!!!!!!!
My grandfather had one of these years ago. I believe they were only made between 1964 and 1968 but not absolutely sure. His was 425 hp and 425 cid I believe. I know it had two 4-barrel carbs on it. He was an old man at the time and lived out in western Kansas ( dirt and gravel roads). He needed a 150 lb bag of sand in the trunk in order to keep it out of the ditch. In 1971 he traded cars and got a Buick Electra. The kid that bought the Wildcat from the dealership killed himself in it within a week. It was one HOT car.
I've got a '64 Riviera, cousin to the Wildcat, with the Wildcat 465 motor in it and it'll absolutely fly, problem is stopping it. The old Nailhead motors are awesome, mine sat for 18 or so years, new battery, plugs, points, oil and gas cranked right up and left twin tracks out the driveway across the street and into my neighbors drive, nuthin like 4 wheel drum brakes!!
How old was the Buick Wildcat? It's a shame that this kid killed himself in the Buick Wildcat within a week, those classic Buick's are a work of art.

Didn't the Centrioun replace the Wildcat back in 1971?

My 63 Wildcat had the 401, 4bbl motor & 2 spd Powerglide with a factory shift kit.
I believe that Buick may have done their homework on the material used for the headliner. It was a kind of foam rubber stuff. I took the Clarion stereo out of the Firebird & put it in the Wildcat and it was like a much better unit. The clairity was awsome compared to when it was in the FB. I still believe that the headliner was supposed to absorb sound to enhance the quiet ride befitting the "Doctors Car" quality of a Buick.

I have a video commercial for the 1964 Buick Wildcat convertible. It's not "PC" by todays standards, yet it was made for mainstream television and is very funny. It features a red ragtop with PW, P-top, console + shifter, and who knows what else. Just a 1.7Mb file if anyone wants it; you will need to install the right codec to play it (I.263).
I like the 60's full size cars with automatic shifters on the console, that is a unique feature, those 401 big blocks have a good amount of horsepower.
