Hey there. The other week I was wiring the speakers to my CD player. Everything went fine, but I noticed that the memory was not working. The next day the radio did not work at all. I took it out and noticed that I had mistakenly put the radio key switch wire to the battery, and the radio battery to the key switch. That explained the problem. However, after putting the wires to their respective mates, the CD p,ayer will still not work. I put a wire tester to the key switch wire, and I am not getting any power to it. I am pretty sure that all the fuses (radio and panel) are still good. Any ideas?
hey ,man , im not sure what kind of cd player you got , but you should look in the manual , for a reset button on the player somewhere.
if you aint got the manual, look for a recessed button maybe a 1/16th of an inch across, (very small) it should be on the face of the radio somewhere.
i , incedentally , am having the same problem , the previous owner didnt want to buy a wiring harness adapter , so he just cut the wires ? and now i cant figure out which wires go where ( which is why im in this forum)
84 Fullsize Bronco. Basically all you need is a wire tester to tell you which is which. 3 wires: Ground, no light, battery power, light, key switch, light when hey is turned on. my problem is that the key switch wire does not seem to have any juice. To find out which wires belong to which speakers, I use a small 9V battery. Touch the wires to the battery, and you will hear a crackling noise in a speaker. Hook up accordingly.
thats what mines doing also , i think it may be the rat that was living in it may have chewed thru the wires....i dunno
if all else fails , just wire your main lead to the battery , and find something in the fuse box to hook your ignition wire to , jujst make sure that its something that will only come on when the key is in
