Cool Bronco 2 Electrical/Starting Problem

88 Bronco II. When truck sat for a week. The battery went dead. Jumped it and it ran and started fine. Truck sat for 4 days, bateery was dead again. Bought new battery and during replacement, I connected the positive connector to the battery, and then the negative cable. When I connected the negative cable, a green wire that was connected to the solenoid/relay on the fire wall started smoking. Now nothing works. No gauges, no radio, no courtesy lights. Nothing...

Help!

See if you can find fusible links "C", "D", and "E" shown in the diagram at this link:

If "C" is burned out, I would suspect there maybe something wrong with your alternator. The alternator being bad would also explain the mysterious draining of the battery too.

Thanks for the help. It was the fusible link "C". I replaced it with a 20 amp in-line fuse holder and will replace the alternator.
