88 Bronco

I just recently bought an 88 Bronco with the idea of restoring it. The engine overheats when driving. I replaced the water pump and the thermostat. What else could cause the engine to overheat?

You could have a bad clutch fan or maybe a plugged radiator. You can see if the water is circulating by taking off the cap, be sure the engine is cool before you take the cap off. The water should be moving at a good rate. Any good radiator shop can rod out the radiator. You should probably replace the cap too,if you haven't already done so. You can replace the clutch fan with a flex fan if you wish. They work very well and are more direct drive.

I just put a flex fan on my 88 bronco. I got a 19" 6 blade, and love it. I also have a problem with it getting too hot.

could be a cracked head or bad head gasket -- do you have oil in your water or vice versa -- have the local radiator shop check it out -- they can pressure check entire system
