Hey all. I was wondering about customizing my Bronco. What can I do? I have a 1996 Bronco XLT 351W, and I've kept up with maintenance and keeping her looking and running well. However, this Bronco is all stock and I was wondering what I could do to make it look and feel more badass. Exhaust? Engine performance? Transmission Performance? Suspension? Body stuff? If people could let me know what they've done and how I could find some of the parts, that would be awesome. Thanks guys!
hey chuck, you got a world of options.
if you got the $, get a performence cam from comp cams, roller rockers , edelbrock 650 or above carb depending... finish off with true headers and flowmasters.
good luck!
Well what kind of driving conditions does this bronco see on a regular basis? With that answer, we can more accurately steer you towards components ("badass" means different things to different people). Also, what kind of goals (if any) do you have for this truck. Do you have a ballpark budget figure?
Well, maybe badass wasn't the best term . This truck won't ever look too badass, considering she's a two tone light green and silver. However, I have just noticed that I've seen a lot of other Broncos that seem like they have more to them. In terms of looks, I'm sure changing out the wheels could do something, which I'd consider once the tires I have now are closer to needing to be replaced. However, this engine just seems like it's too tame and contricted, and I was wondering what I could do to make her a fiercer beast. I live just outside of Boston, MA, so this truck sees just about every kind of condition . Thanks for all the suggestions so far.
Well I know that my 96 came alive with some bassani headers, bassani Y pipe, and a catback (Had bassani, have gibson now). Of course, there are always gear swaps, head /cam upgrades, etc and so forth. You could also put a shift kit in to firm up the tranny, and make it feel sportier. I bought a B&M transpak for mine, but have yet to install it. Aftermarket rims and tires always help spruce up the appearance of any vehicle. I certainly wouldnt plan on turning you bronco into a Porsche or anything, but there are a few power adders that help. Oh, you could also get a chip (I know Diablo is one of the best brands). I will be getting one as soon as I have time to bring my truck to the dyno and have it graphed.
