Come On Fellas Mild To Wild Any Ideas For My F-600 In Taking Rusty F100 Advice Using A 390 Block Heads Cam Intake Then Using The 359's Reciprocating Assembly Whats A Good Cam Intake Carb I Want To Build A Torqe Monster Thatll Run
Ok, from the other thread we were using the 359 (might as well say 361, same thing for all intents and purposes) FT crank, rods, pistons, timing cover, and oil pan. In addition to this we were adding an FE block, heads, and intake. Get these from a late 360 (like 1972 or later) out of a pickup truck.
The reason for saving the FT 3.5" stroke crank was to save the pulleys and not have to get it balanced. Also, the 359 had some interesting pistons in it. It had 1.902" compression height pistons with a 10cc dish. When combined with FE heads, with a 3.5" stroke crank, you get 9.1:1 compression.
To this, I would add:
1. Port the heads. Since you're a racer you could probably do it yourself, but if you have any doubts take it to a compotent machine shop and have it done.
2. Swap out the cam. The Crane 343901 is an excellent cam for towing with this combination.
3. Edelbrock performer intake
4. Holley 600cfm vacuum secondary carb
5. Long tube headers. I'm not sure which ones will fit an F600, but I'm sure you'll find some. I'd be surprised if there wasn't enough room to fit the standard F100 headers in there.
6. Dual exhaust. Obviously.
With this setup, DD2k is spitting out 346hp @ 5000rpm, and 402 ft-lbs @ 3500rpm. The torque curve is as flat as a pancake. You'll have the most powerfull F600 around.
man your nowhere close to ohio r u i havent dealt much with fe engines never heard of a 359 untill yesterday so thanks again luckily the guy who had the truck has 5 or 6 late 360 truck engines around probably get them for nothing sounds like fun cant wait to get started the truck came to my garage today on a hook and it had to be a d--n chevy ahg
