2000 Explorer - Vehicle Speed Sensor

I'm trying to locate the vehicle speed sensor(VSS)on a late model Explorer with the 4-speed automatic transmission and 4.0L SOHC V-6. I see a couple of sensors with electrical connectors on the transmission, but not sure which one is the VSS.

Any ASE certified or weekend tinkerer out there know the answer?

Yup, in possibly '98, defintately by '99 Ford went with using the Rear Anti-lock Brake sensor as the Vehicle Speed Sensor. It is now in the rear differential. You won't find it on your transmission or transfercase on your 2000.

If your looking for a speed sensor signal for some accessory gizmo, We, (LAPD MTD)use the grey w/black tracer @ the cruise control connector; Escape, Explorer & Crown Vic.
