Here's my problem, when i type in a word or something in my address bar, i get a page not found like it doesnt go to the search engine. If i type the actual web address, no problem.I can go to MSN home page and search there but not from my address bar.I deleted some things the other day, but nothing that looked important, maybe i did.Does any one know what is the matter and can i restore a search engine to my address bar?Thankfully i have my favorites sites in my favorites.I just cant search from my address bar.
might be disabled.. goto the Internet Options under the Tools Menu. then click on the Advance tab and look for "Search From the Address Bar" make sure that "Do Not Search From The Adress Bar" is not clicked. mine is on "Just Goto Most Likely Page" and it works fine.
checked my internet options and it was unchecked somehow.Checked it, shut the computer down and rebooted but still no search from address bar.Oh well im sleepy.
Not a computer wizzard by any means, but I do use several spyware removal and detection programs including Spybot and others and run them all at least once a week. After killing all the bad stuff, I never have any problems at all. That Norton Fire Wall works like magic on my Gateway!
I use Adaware and Spybot. I use the built in XP firewall.
I run a scan with adaware and spy bot every time I visit the net. If its big shopping sites or the like....I run em as soon as I am done shopping around. Both Adaware and Spybot run just fine while your working or surfing.....so I run them in the background often.
Scrap norton.. Any firewall that forces you to pay for it is junk. Go get Sygate personal firewall.. It's free and far more secure.. It also doesn't mess up your home networking.
