battery level gauge
I just changed the battery on my 99 xp xlt 4x4.
I noticed however that the needle on battery level gauge on the dash is still pointing on the halfway mark.
Shouldn't it be pointing to the max level since the battery is new?
BTW, I changed the battery because the vehicle wouldn't start anymore with the old batteries.

I believe that guage is actually for the alternator. Like most Ford "guages", it's probably not a real guage, but more of a fancy "idiot light" programmed to only move when there is a problem with the alternator. When the "guage" is in the mid-range, everything should be functioning properly.

if it was at the full line you would have a serious problem and the "fancy idiot light gauges" go for all the ford gauges but the fuel level.you can never tell what is what on those gauges.
