I have a 91 that does not have the cam sensor, But I have heard it is on the top/rear of the engine block somewhere near the centerline. Might want to check along the back of the engine intake down low on the block. Look for a wiring harness running to that general area, and where it connects should be the cam position sensor.

Thanks again Dialtone, i found out that the sensor is about 250 bucks at pep-boys, so it's not the cheapest of repairs. I'll take a look and post more info about the location and how hard it will be to remove later this week.
OUCH... Before you go off and shell out $250 for the sensor, study the PDF file link I provided. Go to bottom of page 73 to test procedure "DR". If you look at what tests are preformed, the FIRST thing to rule out is a wiring problem. The connector only has 3 leads and they are VoltageREF, Ground, and signal out (to PCM). You should definately check all wiring for shorts, opens and high resistance connections before you jump off and buy a new sensor. Personaly, I would study any plug in connection point for signs of corrosion, and the under-hood wiring harness for possible burnt/melted insulation spots near hot exhaust/egr equipment.

Thanks Dialtone, it is steep for that sensor so ruling out other faults first is a good idea. The problem with this darn sensor is it's mounted way back below an air conditioning or coolant tube (metal) that makes it hard to reach. I might be able to reach it through the right front fender well, but it will still be hard to remove or even to check the harness will be hard too. Pep boys quoted me about 1.5 hours of labor or 120 bucks, but since it so far back i bet they will redo their estimate to at least 2.5 hours once they see it. But i will definitely check the docs you sent and try to rule out the harness or wiring before i buy the 250 sensor.
