Data plate decoding

I was wondering if you guys could help me out with the data plate on my 65 f-100. My chiltons seems to be inept at helping me with it, not even the axle code! So here it is
VIN: F10DD649444
Data plate:115W F100 B81 G C1
5000 172 4000 75

I get that 172 and 4000 are the HP and RPM, but I'm still scratching my head with the others.

I think this should do it..

VIN: F10 D D 649444

F10 - F-100
D - 352 engine
D - Assembled in Dallas
649444 - Mfg in Feb 1965

Data plate:115 W F100 B81 G C1

115 - Wheel Base
W - Medium Blue
F100 - 2 Wheel Drive 5000 Lb G.V.W.
B81 - Custom Cab
G - Cruisomatic Transmission
C1 - 3:31 Rear Ratio

B = Blue interior....armrests,seat,flr mat and dash if w/o pad and column and wheel....

*scratches head* So this engine and trans are not original. It has a 390 with a C6 in it. Strange... everything else is original, the paint, interior, and such. Looks like the drivetrain has been swapped at one time.

Now the only problem I have is the right front bearing. I can't break the nut loose on the spindle to change it. I have it at my shop and even a 200 ft.lbs. impact can't loosen it. I won't be able to drive it till thats fixed. What a bummer.

Sure it's a 390, they look just like a 352....???

Check the casting numbers...intake or heads or block....trans tag would be on LH side if it is a cruisematic. An easy way to tell the trans is if the fill tube screws into the RH side of the trans. pan.

OK, so when I had it in the air the other day I took a gander at the trans. It has the big offset trans pan, not the little square one for the C4. Am I right for thinking that a C6 shouldn't be in my 65, right? So I'm pretty convinced that this engine isn't stock, even the color is all wrong for the year. All I have to do is replace the spindle (no easy task as nobody seems to have one) and stop the valve cover leak and I'll be on the road!
