Lightbulb Bumper Brackets

Ok gents and ladies,

How do the brackets bolt up??? Is it to the outside or the inside?? I got a pair of brackets from a yard that fit the bolt pattern on the truck but they only bolt up from the outside...Is this the correct way?

55FL... I assume you are talking about the rear brackets. They should bolt up to the outside. At least they do on my 56. I ordered a pair of repro brackets and each came with a large rivet holding the two pieces of each bracket together. I "thought" one part of the bracket should be on the inside and one on the outside of the frame...sooooo..I proceeded to drill out the rivet. It was only when I got my bumper and found it wouldn't bolt up that I decided to ask about that big rivet. Obviously, it was supposed to be there as the bracket mounts as one piece to the outside of the frame.

Sore Knuckles is correct

I just purchased a rear bumper and brackets for my 53. Installation instructions show both brackets on the outside of the frame rails.
