98 Explore Alarm

I have two questions.
1. My Explore has suddenly developed a tendency for the factory alarm to go off. It seem this happens not too long after it has been driven in the morning. I have only heard it happen once. Any ideas?
2. I have had the same truck into the dealer for the cam chain noise, but i always get they can't reproduce the noise when they have it. They have acknowledged it is a problem, but won't fix it until they hear it. I am at 39,000 miles. I have seen messages on recalls for this, is it Ford recall or NHTSA recall?
Thank You for your responses.

Here is additional info on the alarm. After driving, and once the truck is locked, the alarm will go off for no reason in about 2 minutes +/-. It does not seem to do it when the the truck is not locked.

Issue 1: Check the operation of your hood switch. If it is in the same place as my '97 it is mounted on the fender on the passenger side. Look for a black button that gets pressed when the hood closes. If it is loose or has slipped down it will cause the alarm to go off. The reason it doesn't happen when it is not locked is because the alarm is not armed.

Issue 2: It was not a recall. It was an Owner Notification Program. Basically if it is not broken (or Ford can't duplicate the problem) Ford will not fix it. If it was a recall, Ford would be required to replace the tensioners whether they exhibited the problem or not. I would try a different dealer on this one. Don't mention that you ever had it to another dealer. Just mention that it started intermittantly making this rattling noise when you start it. The letter from Ford described the noise as happening during a cold start. Mine happened whenever starting it when the engine was warmed up. I even got into an arguement with a Ford Service Writer about it when he told me that if it doesn't happen when the engine is cold it is something else. I went to a different dealer and told them I had the rattling noise whenever I restarted my warm engine. They made me an appointment and ordered the parts. When I picked it up, the noise was gone and has been now for the last 25K-30K miles.
