My 4R100 transmission in my '01 PSD Excursion is acting up. It has a hard time shifting into 2nd, gotta get over 2000 RPM to do so. The OD light on the shifter is blinking. I've read quite a few other posts and it looks like I need to pull the error codes. I have an OBD-II scanner from AutoXray. I've plugged it into the OBD-II connector under the dash on the driver's side. After connecting OK, the code reader says that there are no pending codes (actually there are two types of codes it can "pull" but it says that there are none mending). Am I doing this right? Shouldn't there be some codes with this type of problem? Is there a different place to get the codes? Enquiring minds want to know...
I have a 01 that had the same problem if your truck was built between 11/2000 and 4/2001 you probably have a defective transmission. You will have to take it to a shop of the dealership to make sure on the code but that is what mine did. Hope this helps.
long550, mine was built 8/2000. Are you refering to the 6 month period where ford had 4r100 with a differently designed "sprag gear" or something like that? If your dates are accurate then I'm in the clear on that.
i may be wrong on the dates i had to have mine fixed around august 2001 and i order my truck as soon as you could order a 01. os your tranny may be in the same run.
