I have a 94 explorer and have a problem disconnecting the fuel filter. I have the disconnect tool and was able to disconnect the one side closer to the gas tank, but the front connection would not disconnect at all. Is there a solution to this annoying problem?
I spent two hours pushing extremely hard and using a screwdriver to push even harder and also needle nose pliers that I used to get in behind the disconnect tool to push on it. Still no luck. Any ideas on that? I have a few different disconnect tools and i would like to know if there are any more, would anyone know of a place to find more tools?
Lot's of times, you have to push the line in towards the filter, then insert the disconnect tool to unlock the tabs.
Otherwise when you push the disconnect tool in, it doesn't unlock the tabs.
After you change the filter and push the lines back on, pull on the lines to make sure that the locking tabs are locked. The lines have been known to not lock and come off two-three days later.
Follow the post on pushing in on the line before trying to pull it off. Works every time for me. On the more tools question. In my opinion Snap On is the only one to buy. I own every different type of fuel line removal tool there is and Snap On's is the best.

Ok i tried pushing the line in towards the fitting and still no good. I did notice though that on the side im having trouble with the tool will not go all the way in to make contact with the fitting to release the spring lock. i compared it to the other fitting and thats the side that will release and come off. i wonder if there is something stuck inside the fitting like a broken disconnect tool holding up the works here.
