Antenna mast replacement ('72)

The antennae mast on my '72 has always been loose from the base and held on with a hose clamp (but still pulls right off). Is there some type of replacement mast that can attach to the original base post (possibly with a set screw or something)??? I know I could replace the entire unit but my truck has factory air conditioning and I don't really want to take the entire air conditioner out just to route the new cable etc.

Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated!!
Thanks

You wouldn't have to pull the ac unit for a replacement.
Just remove glove box and you have plenty of room.

Yup, had to replace mine also. Pop out the glove box liner and fish it thru the rubber plug in cab wall. Not a real difficult job.

Does yours have air??

The air conditioner is right behind the glove box (the glove box is only a couple inches deep because of the AC). I can't get to the radio by taking the glove box out and I didn't think I could get to the cable either??!!

Does yours have AC???

I replaced the antennae on my '72 in about 15 minutes. Pull out the glove box liner, and fish the new coax thru the grommet. My old one had an accumulation of water in the bottom of it, so the radio was making crackly noises. Much better now. I bought a universal replacement, which looked like some of the Ford OEM.

blatherskite-- Yes, I have factory air and it sounds like you have the same set up as mine and like baitmaster said 15 min. replacement at the most!
