Jobs

I am getting really mad at my job now. I am only part time, and get paid part time and have part time bennies. My work keeps scheduling me for 40 hours. This is starting to really set me off since it is the 4th week in a row that it has happened. I am gonna go up to the managers and tell them that unless they want to start paying me full time, and give me all the full time benefits, I will not be showing up more than 32 hours per week. *Sarcasm on* What a great summer! *sarcasm off*

they are definately playing you, but be warned, when a company does this to you, they like your work or attitude or attendance but are not planning on keeping you on.
most likely you are summer help. if you go up and tell them what you think about it you are really running the risk of them showing you exactly how much they canget along without you. my suggestion would be to bust your but and keep your mouth shut and while you are still employed(best time to look for a job) parlay the experience into a full time job somewhere else. at worst, you end up with another job. at best, you tell your comany you're quitting(honestly) and they offer you full time and full bennies to stay.

You could also approach management with a compromise. Tell them that while you don' t mind pulling the FT hours to cover while some one is out a week or 2, that you enjoy the job and would like to explore becoming full time if that is what they need. Otherwise, you will not be able to continue the extra hours because it is interfering with other commitments (...school, 2nd job, responsibilities with kids....) and if the full time i sgoing to keep up you need to make arrangements & they should compensate you for the extra childcare, lose of money from other job......

HI : i worked a job like that for a few years.after a long time i was hired full-time and have been their since. i know what you're saying. i think. i agree with the other post of them liking your work or at least ...they need someone.most of our department was like that. everyone wanted full-time. we pressed the issue.then they knocked our hours down.32 or less for a long time. we all lost money.all stopped complaining. with us they were able not to pay benifits. that hurt.good for the company. it's like that in many places.if you don't want the money, tell them to just give you a 32 hour week. if it was me,i'd work all i could and save some of it or buy things you'll need.take advantage of it while it's their.good luck...joezee

I talked with my supervisor about it, and it is his way of showing us that we are doing a good job. Him and I had some beef, but all the ruffled feathers have been smoothed. All of the management there really loves me. Its Best Buy by the way.
