I guess this is more of an opinion poll. I am looking to get a new ranger, but i cannot decide between the more powerful 4.0L and the more efficient 3.0L. I tow an 18" boat about four time a year, so the extra power would be nice. Other than that, fuel economy would be nice.

Do you guys think the 3.0L is enough guts to pull a ~5000lb boat or do i need to get the 4.0L?

 

The 3 liter weed eater can barely move a Ranger around. My girlfriend had a 2002 Ranger Edge with the 3.0. Empty the truck was a slug, loaded down it was embarassing. Get the 4.0...

 

The MPG difference between the two isn't all that much in real world driving. Get the 4.0 and enjoy the extra power it has to offer.

 

Get the 4.0! Take it from someone living the 3.0 experience. Me!

Definatly get the 4.0. I rode in my friends 3.0 and he was on the floor everywhere and it simply doesnt have any power, and thats a 5-speed too. The 4.0 has LOTS more power.
