Bad Starter??
My 96 explorer has been running great and all of a sudden it would not start. I cranked the key several times and all I heard was one click each time I turned the key. It finally started on the seventh or eighth turn. I drove the car to the parts store and they told me it was probably the silinoid on the drivers side front fender. The car started with the old soilenoid when I was leaving the store with one crank. I replaced the soilenoid when I got home and the problem was back, with the new one. Is it my starter that has gone bad and how do I get to it with only jacks to lift up the vehicle?

It sounds like you may have a bad spot on the starter. The next time it happens, tap the starter and see if it makes a difference. Before you replace the starter, make sure that the starter and battery cable connections are clean, especially the ground.
