Hi! I am new here. As usual I have joined because I have a problem. My 2003 F150 with 15,000 miles on it has became haunted. Last night when I started the truck to go home. This beeping noise came from the dash. I checked for warning lights and nothing. So I stopped, opened the hood could not find anything unusual. So I drove home, about 20 miles into the trip home it beeped again. This time I started counting. It beeped five times with a five seceond pause then it beeped five times again. It repeated the sequence five or six times. And still no warning lights. Truck ran fine all the way home. A total of 25 miles. Any advice would be appreicated.
if it's a 2003 with 15,000 miles on it it's still under warranty, right? take it to the stealer & let him figure it out.
while reading through this forum, i came across this reply from racerguy to a similar question:
The beeping is from the air bag diagnostic monitor and is happening because the light on the dash isnt working.
If a system fault is present and the air bag indicator is malfunctioning, an audible tone will be heard. The tone is a series of five sets of five beeps. If the tone is heard, the air bag system needs attention.
Thanks, myke. I was planning on going to the dealer but being female and mechanically stupid. I was looking for a little education first for comparsion purposes. Also all the guys at work thought I was on something last night because they had never come across such a situtation. I was being to wonder myself. I will let you know what the dealer says when I get there. Thanks!!!
