what ford truck years are the 2wd suspension and steering compatible with a 69 f-100. i am working on a power disk brake, power steering upgrade and am looking for a donor truck.
thanks
This link should help you. I added disc brakes from a 75 F-100 and the 69 has a power steering sector already available at most parts stores. For the steering you need to swap out the column and the pitman arm from a donar truck. https://www.ford-trucks.com/articles...conversion.php
The column can come from a truck as new as a 78, but watch for wiring differences, mainly cruise control and turn signals. I'll stick my neck out and say that the pitman arm should be the same from '67-'78 F100's. You might ask this question in the Brakes, Steering, Suspension,Tires, Wheels forum.
Run a search for this subject in the '61 - '66 forum also. These are popular upgrades, and are well worth the time and money. Make sure you are reading about '65 and '66 trucks, though. '64 and earlier trucks are completely different under the skin, so nothing motor or framewise interchanges between them and the '65 and later trucks,
Your best bet is to find a junk truck with the options you want. If you can find one with the same engine and transmission as what you have now, or which have what you eventually want to upgrade, better yet.
After you have harvested the parts you want, sell the rest on E-bay!
Disc brakes were mandated after '73, so any '73 - '79 will have what you need. Look out for 8 lug vs 5 lug wheel issues as well.
If you can find a '68 - '72 power steering column, you can plug it right in to your truck with no problems. A '73 - 79 column will require re-wiring, and relocating the bracket. Neither issue is terribly difficult, but it is nice to use original parts!
You might even want to consider putting your body on a '73 - '79 frame. This is also a popular swap for earlier trucks.
Good luck!
