I would advice against pressure washing the engine. There's a lot of seals and gaskets that could get blown out, even if you aren't spraying at them directly. I've been working on mine trying to clean it up and about the safest way is just degreasing it. I'm using Simple Green and a rag and just wiping all it clean. Just have to make sure that Simple Green isn't corrosive for certain parts.
I just wipe down the motor after washing the exterior. Keep up on this and it stays pretty clean. Then you don't need to do anything else. But if it is dirty, then I would got the Simple Green route too.

what i do is go to napa, get gunk engine brite - spray engine let stand 15 minutes, then rinse with garden hose, make shure you cover the intake good. watter don't compress = in piston.
