I asked my service guy at my local dealership about this 3 months ago. He said that it is a common problem and that they strip them all the time. I asked him how much it would cost me if I did it, and he told me that it would be no cost.
I guess this could have been because I have all my service and etc done by them, but I just figured that Ford was taking care of its customers. $7 is cheap customer service.
luckily i was just trying to remove the plug knowing it can be a pain. soo my truck is still mobile. was wondering the best way to remove the now stripped plug??easy out, reverse drill bit or ?? truck is going soon to the dealer for leaking head gaskets and since i was under there, a leaking rear main.

EZ out tool. Looks like a reverse drill bit. Be careful not to strip the threads on the HCFM. You don't need to tighten them too much as they have a rubber O-ring for a seal.
got my truck back, woo hoo, the new HCFM has the same brass plug so i will talk to the service guy tomorrow. Cost 176 for new fuel filters and to get them changed.
