4R100/E4OD the same trans?

Question 4R100/E4OD the same trans?
I need a 4r100 auto trans for my 2002 f250 superduty 7.3 diesel 4x4, I keep seeing the E4OD and the 4R100 listed on ebay, rebuilders, etc. for sale, are they the same trans?

They aren't exactly the same. The E4OD morphed into the 4R100 when Ford made some internal changes.

The cooling system also had some changes. There is a cooler bypass while transmission is cold and I seem to remember that the lines are larger.

Transfer case interchange E4OD/4R100
