Expedition Purchase = screwed?
Expedition Purchase = screwed?
My folks purchased a new Eddie Bauer Expedition, MSRP $45000, trade value $7000, rebate $5000. I think they got screwed by our "I will take care of my good customers" dealer. Please tell me if I'm wrong.
Expedition $45000
Rebate $ -4000
finance it $ -1000

Trade 98' Buick Le Sabre 30,000 miles/leather
$ 7000
I think the dealer should of did a $500 over invoice then deduct the rebates and trade. We have purchased 10 vehicles from him since 95'.
Let me have it, good or bad?

Well.................
In this case, it all depends on the condition of the Buick, and what the dealer THINKS it's worth. Frankly, that car could be worth anywhere from $3000-$8000, depending on condition and model (leather was available on both the Custom and the Limited, and you didn't specify the model, condition or any other equipment).
Let's face it, this is all water over the dam, but this is what they SHOULD have done: sold the LeSabre themselves and worked a clean deal on the Expedition. A 1998 with 30,000 miles? They could have sold that in no time, and for a good price if it's in decent shape. Bottom line, if the Buick needed work, they didn't do too bad; if it was a creampuff...................ouch. Maybe they'll know better next time.

Buick was in excellent condition and I'm in contact with the dealer as I type. I'm not a happy camper right now with the dealership, as we do go back a ways and didn't expect them to take advantage of my parents. They did however in the last week get us a buyback on Dad's 03' 6.0 DRW CC. The buy back had nothing to do with this deal. I guess they expect to be rewarded.

Jeff,
I hope you DO have a life outside of work and FTE!! My God man, you're on here early, you're on here late and sometimes in between! I wish all car salesmen had your pride and dedication. I've had 4 (out of 5) salesmen never return my phone calls in the last two weeks. It amazes me how most display a very laissez-faire attitude. And, unfortunately, it seems I always hook up with these low-life bottom feeders!
I commend you for your professionalism and honesty. Get some sleep; it's late!

I probably spend more time here than I should, but I enjoy it, and that's what matters. I've always said that there's something about FTE, a special quality to the site and its members that you don't find anywhere else. It seems to go well beyond just Ford trucks. FTE has been very good for me in a number of ways, and I don't just mean financially. I stumbled on this site over 2 years ago, and all I did was start answering questions, because that's just my nature. I felt I was repaying the benefits that I had already received. Then the powers-that-be came to me earlier this year and asked if I wanted to start selling trucks here (which I had to think about for all of 1 second!). I guess they liked what they saw, what else can I say. It's good to know that "doing the right thing" (for lack of a better phrase) is appreciated, and can lead to financial rewards.
It never ceases to amaze me how far people will come to buy a vehicle, and that's greatly appreciated. It's why I so look forward to "breaking bread" when you get here, because I want to show my appreciation, and I was raised that the best way to do that is to host and share a meal. Now, I know all of that's going to sound like a pile of you-know-what to some people, but I think my 2 years' of posts bears the truth.
Well, I can't believe I opened up like that, but what the hell. Thank you for the kind comments, as they're very much appreciated. They are the rewards that matter most, because they can't be purchased with any amount of money.
