Predator 65hp loading, engine hot or cold?
I just received my Predator last week and have been trying to
decipher the manual. Even the folks at Motorhaven say it isn't
the best....
Basically, I want to upload the 65 hp mode to my new '04 6.0
but can't decide if I should do it with the engine hot, cold, or
if it even makes a difference.
The manual warns against electrical load changes while programming,
but the owner's manual states the glow plugs can stay on for as much
as two minutes and not to go by the light on the dash as an indication.
What do you folks do on your trucks when working with this programmer
and changing settings?
I'd like to save the original flash to my pc, but there again, the literature
still has a lot to be desired, at far as clarity goes.
Thanks.
Doesn't matter hot or cold...
but what I do is:
turn off all electrical stuff... a/c radio, interior lites...
close all doors, set the parking brake in park...
if u want you can idle for a bit to warm up the cylinders so the glow plugs don't stay on as long... (mind u, I've never done this and never had an issue loading mine)
then set back with the doors closed and stat with the engine off...
once u follow the instructions once or twice it becomes no problem !
and the BST part of it all is how it changes the personality of the beast !
get ready to grin a LOT !
