I have a 90 Bronco XLT with a 302 Windsor 5.0 fuel injected. I have a 351 block that I am about to rebuild but it is carborated. How much trouble is it going to be going from the 302 fuel injected to the 351 carborated? I am already planning on doing a tranny swap at the same time. It is currently an automatic 3 speed butI want to put in a manual trans., is that possible? Thanks in advanced for all the info...
I've done a similar swap... You have to find a donor Manual truck for the underdash clutch assm. go hydraulic they are easier. You can easily change out the column for a non-column shift and just black out the P-R-N-D-2 1 from the back with nailpolish or a peice of black plastic. it's easier to find a manual tranny tunnel cover with the shifter boots there, than to cut the one you have. remember to plug the tranny cooler lines and that the Starters are different. I'm also a manual transmission fan. I really like the 4 gear in my 81.
ps. there's a small chance that if your changing from a c6 to a very short man. tranny. the drive shaft will need to be longer. Mine is ok so far. also when looking for driveshafts the 8.8 and 9" rears have the same size u-joints and the NP t-cases are different than the Borg warner. (Although the Inside of the cups are the same... I just changed the cups)
