In reading some of the posts you have made here over the last few months, it looks like you know trannies.... Our Aerostars A4LD is acting up, and we can't find the speed sensor... Is it in the body of the trans or in the rear end? We do have RABS on this model its a '93.
Do I know transmission? Well, I own a transmission shop (one of the REALLY big chains), but I am not sure if that is an answer ;-)
A4LDs can have the speed sensor on either the tailshaft housing or the differential housing. Most likely yours is in the diff housing. If there is a sensor mounted there that's what it is.
What kind of problem do you have? A '93 A4LD has only 4th and Lockup controlled electronically, 1st through 3rd are all old fashioned governor and modulator operation.
Well, we got it fixed tonight, it was the RABS sensor like my 92 E150... There is what looks like a spot for it in the tailshaft that was never drilled out... THe dealers all told us that it should be in the trans. This was from the service desk attendant.... I really wish when they didn't know they'd go ask the guy that works on them all day.... But thank you.....
