Unhappy 1997 Exporer wont start

Yesterday the truck ran great, went out this morning and it wont start. Plenty of power for everything else, it turns over but no start. Acts like it wont get fuel. We tried to reset the fuel switch, now what. Anyone have any suggestions please email me at krankie@peoplepc.com
Thanks

Do you hear the fuel pump run for 2 seconds when you turn the key to run-not start? If not turn the key off, give the gas tank a good whack with your hand & try again. This little trick ha gotten me home a couple of times, and then I changed the fuel pump. But it could also be an ignition problem.

I had the same problem with my 98 Mountaineer. It was intermittent and a real pain in the... One time I had AAA come out to tow it to the dealer but where the tow truck arrived the driver gave it a try and it worked. Then I almost got stuck in Detroit when it wouldn't start. Again a few hours later it started just fine.

To make a long story short it turned out to be the anti-theft system. I can't find a copy of the repair bill but it had something to do with the on-board computer not recognizing the key in the ignition. They ended up replacing the (on-board computer or whatever it is in the ignition that that senses the key). Haven't has any more problems with it starting.

Hope this helps.
