The other day i was telling a guy who knows quite a lot about cars about the mods i have in mind for my I6, which are, a better flowing exaust, offy 2bbl intake, with a holley 350cfm carb, and a crane truck power camshaft with a 260,272 duration. He says that that will be too much for the engine, and that it wouldn't last very long. is he right, or not. What kind of miles are you guys running those simmilar mods getting, and has any one had any problems simply upgrading to a 350cfm 2bbl, w/out the cam? By the way, my truck is an 84, and the engine has bout 150,000 miles
All the items you mention are pretty standard up-grades for a 300. Also, you mean a Offy 4 bbl intake with a 2bbl adaptor. You can also use a Holley 390 cfm 4 bbl on the Offy manifold.
Up-grading with a 150K miles may be a strain - I would recommend a good rebuild first - If your going to do a cam you're half way there anyway. Don't forget new steel cam gears and you don't mention any ignition mods. You can also save some money on the exhaust by using the factory EFI manifolds and a Walker down pipe.
Good Luck - the 300 is a great base for the mods you mention + more.
