timing problems 351 w

I am trying to findout the stock timing degree for a 351w in an 84 f-150 but the engine year is unknown how can I time it properly.

timing should be 10* btdc , get a timing light it will make things easier .

When you set the curb idle, make sure you pull off and plug the vaccuum line when you set it. 10-12 btdc should be fine. Or you can play it by ear and turn it till it sounds bad one way, then the other, and settle somewhere in the middle, a little advanced. But a timing light is the best way to go - just don't forget to un-hook and plug the vaccuum advance!
