Question timing problems 351 w

I am trying to findout the stock timing degree for a 351w in an 84 f-150 but the engine year is unknown how can I time it properly.

Look for an engine calibration code. For example, the code would be something like 4-63H-R00. If you can find that code, you can tell what year your engine is by checking in a Chilton manual. If not, try 10 degrees BTDC. Different years have different settings, but that should get you close. Good luck!
BTW, the calibration code is a sticker somewhere on the engine.

Agree with Big Hoss, 10 degrees is good starting point for stock engine. Make sure you disconnect the vacuum advance while doing the timing. I ran my 351W at 12 degrees with an Edlebrock performer rpm cam.
