Hi,
I have a 1981 f150 I6 4 speed manual tranny 2 part bellhouse. I need to change my rear main seal and the tranny needs to be dropped. How much do these tranys weigh. I am by myself and do not have much in the way of jacks. Please offer step by step how to drop tranny , remove clutch, take off flywheel , and get to rear main seal.

You don't list which 4 speed you have. However, a T-18 supposedly weighs 145 pounds according to a web site I recently visited.
You can probably get the tranny out without a jack, but even the lightest tranny will require a jack to put it back in.

You shouldnt do this alone. have at least two other able-bodied buddies to help you out.
I think you also have to removre the shifter assembly from inside the cab, but im not sure about that. I've only done it the other way around, pulling the engine instead.
