2000 Windstar Problems. Intermittant Dying
I have a 2000 windstar 3.8L with 66K mi on it. It has 2 problems. 1st, the engine knocks unless I burn 92 octane fuel. The second problem is that it dies intermittantly. it may die at a stop sign, or going down the freeway at 70. It just shuts off, no sputtering, missfiring or anything else noticeable. it's like someone turned off the key. It happens a couple times a day, or sometimes goes for several days without a problem. Any ideas would be helpfull. I have been thinking about trading it off for an Expedition.

trade it for a late model aerostar! you can get a 4WD model like mine, and the ext length is bigger inside than an expedition too.
i got my 95 in like new shape for 3700.
you can still find 97's for cheap too.
i dont like a car payment, i'd rather own it outright!
