Like many of you SD owners, I was shocked to find out that my $47K truck has zip, zero, zilch for security. I mean what in the heck is the "Advanced Security Group" that is listed as an option on my window sticker?! The sales person even told me that it has an alarm that would sound if someone opened the locked truck w/o using a key, remote, or keypad. So my question is if anyone has a system that integrates well with the Ford keyless entry (door-pad and remote), any auto window up features, tailgate options etc. In the mean time I am emptying the truck at night, which is a pain the ace. Thought about posting this to the Audio group...
I have the Ford branded secuity system...used to be the "Gold" system. Has vib / shock feature, the whole bit. Sometimes I forget and drop the tailgate and the dang thing goes off. Of course that is when my keys are in the house. I have the keypad but, I keep forgetting about it.
Typical dealer install is $ 500.00 around here. I got lucky though, sales guy & magr. forgot to add into the price. Freebie for me.
Thanks for the info. I checked with my dealer and the parts are only $249. They couldnt quote me on an install price, but I will likely do it myself anyway. Thanks again.
I have an '03 SD CC 6.0 4x4 and it was stolen back in Dec of '03. I had a Clifford RX3 alarm system put on after it was recovered and no one has messed with it since. It was a little pricey at $700 (installed), but it protects my $35K+ investment. That price included a glass break sensor and remote starting feature. This alarm also comes with a key fob remote that will beep/vibrate when the alarm goes off, this way you know it is your truck and not just another alarm going off.
