Changing my rear main 6 cyl inline 4 speed manual 2 part tranny. The clutch goes into teh side of bellhosuing. How do I remove this to get bellhousing out?
just disconnect the return spring from the clutch fork and back off the adjusting rod. this will free up the clutchfork. it will come out with the bellhousing, its clipped into the pivot on the inside of the bellhousing. to get the bellhousing off you need to either
1: pull the transmission out and remove 6 bellhousing to engine bolts
2: leave the transmission where it is and pull the engine
20-30 lbs for a bellhousing.
The transmission input shaft travels all the way through the bellhousing and into the pilot bearing in the crank, so it cant be removed by itself.
you DONT remove the oilpan to change the rear main seal on a 300. after you remove the flywheel the one piece seal is right there.
