New Truck

Hey guys, and gals. I am brand new to this post and I just bought a brand new F-150 Sat. afternoon. I love Ford trucks, my dad has been a salesman at our local Ford Dealer for 18 years, I'll be 24 in three days so most of my life has been around Ford trucks, I also worked in the detail shop through college so that helped feed the addiction. I have had several Ford Trucks but I just bought my very First Brand new one, it's an '04 F-150 XLT reg. cab 4x4 w/flareside bed w/4.6L V-8 auto. I love this truck. It is black and I plan on adding a little bit of pinstriping, maybe the silver rockerpanel guards and possibly a toolbox in the bed. I quail hunt alot and haul my Brittany's all over, so the bed will have the dog box (houndsmen deluxe 2 door unit) in it from about mid Oct. to late Feb. all the time. The cool part is I bought it and it is MY truck. Back in a day I had an '84 F-150 4x4 stepside (oak floor) that is the comparabel truck to my new one, they sure have made some big changes that's for sure. This new truck is awesome. If you haven't looked it over real well then do so. The truck is a reg. cab, but has 4 doors. Instead of having a column behind the doors, they put another door in on each side to access the area behind the seat. They also have a torsion spring assist tailgate, fully boxed frame and the rear shocks are outside of the frame rails, makes sense if you think about the concept of leverage. When I had my old 84 I made many heads turn after the restoration, this truck makes em turn and keep following. I haven't had the truck 48 hours yet and everyone has to check it out. I went to the local Wal Mart last night about 10 pm before coming to work and three people wanted to see it. I think I mayhave the sharpest truck in town now (pop 10,000 +/-).

Question i have is this, what kind of MPG's are peopel getting eith a similarly equipped machine, I have the 4.6L V-8 with a 3.55 rear end?

Welcome to FTE. Congrats on the truck. I haven't seen a regular cab 4x4 yet but sure hope to.

I've had my 04 XLT SCab 5.4L for 10 mos/10k miles and am still lovin' it just as much as on the first day-maybe more, since I have had time to find everything.

The members here are really friendly and there is a ton of knowledge and experience here. I first got help finding the sunglasses/cell phone insert for the overhead storage bin before the parts guys knew what it was. When it came in all the sales guys came out to see what it did and how neat it was. Also, at $14.95, we also wanted to see the least expensive Ford accessory for the 04!

Hope you enjoy the forums as much as I do...and keep us posted on your experiences with your new truck.
