some guy told me today that since i drive a pickup truck and i have a skyjacker lift that i wont have much flex.now remember i just bought this truck so im new to all of this.then he tells me that i should sell my truck since its so big and get a jeep since it has a smaller wheel base.better for rock climbing etc.im sorry but i just dont like jeeps at all i never have and never will.and im not about to sell my truck just to get a jeep to go rock climbing.I NEVER WENT rock climbing just mud bogging sorry im not into the rock thing.but if i was is he right saying my truck is to big and wont get in trails for rocks?maybe hes right but im sorry i really like ford pickups.i was about to deck the guy but i didn't.lol.....sorry but i love my fords....so tell me is he right my 250 has no flex?..grrrrrrrrrrrr
Pro, step in here. Isn't that truck you posted a while back and F250. The one that's practicly making a joke out of that RTI ramp. FordFla, beware there are always haters out there. They are just jealous of your Ford.
Your skyjacker springs will flex better than your stock springs because they are made of multiple thin leaves rather than 2-3 thick leaves like your stock ones. It is true though that a big pickup truck will be limited on the trail unless you don't care about body carnage. Even then the longer wheelbase and width can have its disadvantages and its advantages on some obstacles on the trail.
I sure would like to see a pic of a truck like mine flexing.i think pro will get more flex than me though i have the TTB front still.I know i know im going to get a dana 60 as soon as i save up the money but untill then im stuck with it a good ole dana 50 ttb.But you know if my big truck can't fit where a little jeep can fit i just make my own trail with my big monster of a truck.hahahaha

RubberDuck
I think the picture you're talking about is Gotz's truck. It's 4 linked with coils and actually doesn't even use the Ford frame anymore . . . but still cool.
95 F350 is right, the Skyjacker leafs will flex quite nicely so far as leaf springs go. In terms of a big truck on the trail well, sometimes it's a little hairy and there are places you can't go but not many. I find the big problem with these trucks is not their long wheel base but their width. You sometimes can't make it between trees as you go down trails . . . at least not with some body damage.
If you're looking mostly at mud bogging the truck will be perfect. If it's built right you might even be surprised at how it does on rocks. What this guy didn't tell you about Jeeps is that most of the serious Jeep guys are bumping their axles out to EXTEND their wheel base as it's actually too short to be stable for a lot of their wheeling.

EDIT.....BTW...if you ever want more flex then take out the very bottom leaf out of all your spring packs! it helps! trust me! those pics have all the leafs so you can imagine how much more limber she is!
one more thing...you outta try rock crawlin! you might like it

Oh, THIS guy:
When I was running my mammoth rig up at TSF I had the jeep guys telling me ALL the time that I couldn't fit there, I was going to roll, etc. Then I would run the trail just fine and make them look stupid. Yes, its tougher in a full size, but that just means you have to make up for it with more skill. Besides, its NOT the wheelbase that makes it tougher, its the width. Harder to avoid body damage. Mostly, it justs pizzles the jeepers off seeing a big old Ford trail run with more finese than they could ever imagine. Oh, and your skyjackers should flex better than stock.
Edit: Just in case a mod has a morality attack, the individual in the picture is above the legal age of eighteen, and is naturally smoking pipe tobacco. Why, what did you think it was?
Have you guys ever heard of a Willock Swivel frame?
My brother had an old Power Wagon with this. It is an articulating frame.
It was majorly cool to see it in action.
Take a look at http://imageevent.com/powerwagon/swivel for some pics.
I had never seen one of those untill a couple years back. Waaaay cool. Works great and also eliminate fatigue from major frame flex (as in Az's pics). How much fun would one of those be? Cool pics Racerguy.
I think one of the guys had one on his Powerwagon for top truck challenge. He was flexing some major articulation. I was wondering if his frame was broken, now I know! Thanks Racerguy.

what year of F250 do you have?
if you have an 80-97, it has no flex.
if you have a superduty or one of those weird 7 lugs ifs f250s, it'll flex decent..
