Question performance tips please!!!

Hey! I'm a new member at this site and own a 1980 F-150 Custom which I have pretty much restored. I have fixed up the body and interior and pretty much finished it off, but I now have to deal with the engine (351 M). Anyone who has any tips as to what I should do to give my truck some more kick when I push the pedal would be appreciated. I have a limited budget since I am 17 and workin my a$$ off for my truck. I just recently got it tuned up and it runs much much better now. I am going to replace my plugs, wires and points soon but any tips for performance are appreciated. Thanks!

A Pertronix Ingnitor instead of points with a hot coil should come in under $150.
Set of inexpensive headers with dual pipes and turbo mufflers should be under $300.
Aftermarket air cleaner for around $50-$75.
This covers alot of bases without breaking a budget and without opening the motor.

Thanks a lot! I'm planning on buying an air cleaner, most likely K&N pretty soon, as I have been told by a few people already that it makes quite the difference. I am curious, however, as to how much of a difference the Pertronix Ignitor and the hot coil would make to my performance. Thanks again!

The K&N is for top end. The Pertronix is for a hot reliable spark and never having to adjust points.

A sure-fire way to boost acceleration is to change rear-end gears. Not too expensive and no tuning required. 3:73 or 4:11 ratio
