Which Heads to use?????

I have 2 sets of FE heads, one with casting C6AE-R, and one with D2TE-AA. Which head will be better suited for a 390 performance build in my 2wd 67 F-100? I know I'm going to have to spend some money on either set, so Edelbrock's aren't out of the question either. This truck will NOT be a daily driver, but I want to be able to run on 93 octane pump gas. What kind of mods will be required to get these stock heads close to the e-brock performance? Thanks again for your input.

You will need extensive porting to get the stock heads up to par with the edels. It is cheaper to just buy the edels unless you are a very experienced porter. The edelbrock heads can be ported to flow well beyond the capabilities of the 427 HR, TP, or cammer heads.

The C6AE-R's are a much better starting point for your application but I agree with Sean. The C6's don't need a lot of porting but by the time you add the costs of rebuilding the heads along with bigger valves, you're at the Edelbrock level. Plus you get aluminum heads which will help with your octane requirements.
