Anyone found any inexpensive ways to insulate your cab for noise? I checked out the matting that the stereo guys use and I think I could probably spend $1000 on that by the time I did my whole crewcab. Any suggestions?
I think I would use the silver stuff like they sell in summit or jegs, I think you
could do it for a lot less than the 1000 that you said as small as a truck cab
is I would say less than 150 just a guess. I think one brand is called Dnya-Mat
I have a roll that is called Armour sound deadener we got it at the rod-run!
i got a roll of that silver padded stuff for like 35 bucks, i put it in and wow the difference, took about two hours and with the padding and the sticky stuff to help it stay i spent like 45 bucks, now i can hear my phone when it rings
I put in Dynamat/ Dynamat Xtreme, padded stuff, and also lined the doors and headliner with it and new weatherstripping....HUGE difference..I'd estimate I spent around 300 bucks after everything was said and done.
That same dynamat type stuff that stereo places like Crutchfield sell for $20 or more per sheet, I buy from MCM Electronics for $1 per square foot. I used about $10 worth when I did the interior of my 66 Mustang. I don't know how big of a difference it made because I also did the carpeting and underlayment at the same time.
I just starting to do mind, got 3/8 carpet rag jute= padding for the floor 36''x54'' for $5.00 bucks at the loco auto-upholstery shop. And will be using the foil lined on the for doors. I think the foil-lined stuff would hold moister in like those old rubber floor mats did if you get it under it and rust again. my 2 cents
orich
i got my padding free from lmctruck, i just had to buy the glue. i guss when you order half their catalog withen 1 year you get something free lol, i think it was the only thing i didnt ever order from them.
