97 150 Alternator Help Needed
I recently replaced a cd player that has not worked for awhile. Shortly after replacement the battery went dead. I charged the battery and drove it for a couple days until it went dead on me again. I hooked it up to a tester and it appeared my alternator and battery were both shot. I have now replaced both the battery and alternator with brand new ones, but the battery will not charge. I checked all the fuses and i am pretty much stumped. It appeared there was an amp installed on the stereo by a previous owned and the wiring was all still in there, and i dont know if i could of did something after i unhooked it all.

What kind of CD player was it? It sounds like the CD player is drawing current when the truck is off, but it shouldn't do that! I'd try pulling the CD player and seeing if the problem is still there.

I guess it would depend on where the wiring was that you removed and what you had to disturb to get the wiring out. If it was wired at the 175amp mega fuse junction block you may have simply reinstalled the wiring to the alternator to the wrong post. You also should check the fuse that is in a little single fuse holder near the 175amp Mega fuse block on the passenger firewall. It serves as a charging system fuse.
