Just wondered if anyone out there has fitted a 4V head to their 5.4?
Is a 4V 5.4 available in the US?
We have a 4V 5.4 available here in the land down under, but I was of the opinion that you guys didn't have one available.
Any ideas why so?
If you want to check out our 4V 5.4 follow the link below... http://www.fpv.com.au/index.asp?link_id=2
I have a car equipped with a 4V 5.4 (GT-P if you visit the site), and although its power delivery prehaps isn't designed for a load pulling truck I though it would be great for those that do the drags, or want a bit extra pace. I have very recently fitted a supercharger to it, running a modest 8 lb, yet to try it on a dyno, but I expect somewhere in the area of 430hp at the rear wheels, am currently working on the exhaust, an intake system, and an intercooler. Anyone out their with supercharged 5.4's that have done this? Just looking for pointers, any weak areas of the engine I may have to look at, or any recommended brands for parts.
They were pretty stout. They also came with a 6-speed, not a/c, radio, back seat, etc.
I should go down under to buy my next car. You guys get all of the good stuff
Feel free to come down for a while (the only problem our cars aren't as cheap as yours). But also we are lucky that some areas of our country still have no speed limits, YAY.
Doing the Metric to american units, the Aussie one is
389 HP
383 ft-lbs
Definately the Cobra R motor. I see that oyu guys get the 3v 5.4 in some of your cars as well.

Yeah, we have the 3V available in our cars (the more luxury ones) I have driven one, and it is a very smooth torquey powerplant, though its definately doesn't sound as good as the 4v, or is it anywhere near as quick.
Nah I doubt it. The 5.4 cobra motor is very different from the dohc 5.4 out today. Alot of exotic parts in that cobra R motor and exotic intake setup.
Been doing a bit more research and you may be correct. FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) recieves the blocks here, and builds them up here with custom cams, intake and exhaust, although I would imagine a fair bit would have been borrowed from the 5.4l cobra, as my understanding is it was the first "performace" 5.4l engine, and these guys would be stupid to re-engineer parts that have already been created.
