Exclamation Cold Air Intake

Has anyone installed a cold air intake system lately? I was thinking about the MAC air intake system and looking for opinions/reviews?? I was also wondering if the problem with the MAS has been resolved or if it is still causing problems with the engine running rich/check engine lights?? Is it worth the trouble??

Yeah, why isn't it worth it? Please explain. I am in the process of possibly purchasing one. I'm just not sure which one yet.

some people say they let more dirt in.. i have a MAC system on my '99 ranger and i haven't had any problems. there really isn't much difference on my truck, but i would think the larger engine would benefit more. and the sound at higher rpms is just really cool! lol.

I was looking at getting one but was talked out of it by the salesperson at SECO...he explained that it helped HP (and mileage to a lesser extent) but caused a moan or whine you can easily hear in the cabin because of the amount of air it's sucking in. I didnt want noise. Instead of buying the kit, I just bought a reusable filter. Was going to go with K&N but after SECO didnt have one that fit my truck, then drove to AutoZone who didnt have one, I bought a FRAM Air Hog...it may just be my imagination but now the acceleration feels a tad bit more responsive...

I installed a True Flow that was recommended by several people. Only one tank of gas thru it so far but have noticed a slight improvement. Waiting to see if the gas mileage goes up...

I installed the K&N, and the best way to descibe it, it was smooth on acceleration before, but now it's buttery smooth now. It seems more responsive also. Just before I installed the K&N, I did get an update on the trottle (as per my request), but it was smooth before the update, I just asked for them to check for an update and they said there was one.

I put in a K&N also, and I agree with your assessment. I have a SCT tune
and it's even made it better.

This is a separate company from Superchips it's called Superchips Custom Tuning (SCT). It a deeper level of tuning and has a programer like the Superchips Microtuner but uses Ford codes for a custom calibration of your PCM.
I have this type of tuning on my '03 Cobra and '04 F-150 5.4 3v.

I helped a friend install a Volant Cold air intake on his 04 F-150. Very nice kit, looks alot better than that factory snorkel. I am not real sure if and how much it helped.

Jagged Edge, don't I know you from somewhere! ;-)

I have a '03 10th Anniversary Black Cobra.
I had a 643 rwhp 773 rwtq '02 Lightning
The '04 F-150 is for towing the Cobra to races and it does this with ease.
