I have a 2000 SD PSD and my ABS light comes on when I first take off and stays on until I am done going where ever. When I first start it it comes on with the rest of the lights and goes off. As soon as I start moving foreward about 10-15 feet it comes on. Sensor? Any help would be appreciated.
The only thing I can think of that would cause that is your rear end sensor. It is located on top of the rear end. Generally when that light comes on it is because that sensor got too wet, somehow got junk in it, or it may be flat out going bad. A dead give away is also if your speedometer quits or intermits, or you odometer stops working. Those are all sings that soemthing is wrong with that sensor. They only run about $25.00.
Can't help you out other than I chime in and say I have somewhat the same problem on my 99 F350 crewcab. The ABS light will stay on after start up every once in awhile and the only way to get it to turn off is by pulling the 60amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood and then plugging it back in, (I know this isn't fixing the problem but until can figure the actuall problem it is the best I can do). Also, the light has came on a few times in the last couple of months out of the blue as I was driving down the highway. I didn't even have my foot on the brake. My speedo is working fine. My overdrive light on the shifter handle doesn't blink. I'm not even getting any error codes on the computer. I originally thought I had fixed the problem by replacing a burned out brake light on the cab third brake light. I didn't have a problem for about a month but the problem seems to be coming back. Tomarrow I will recheck all my bulbs but I don't think this is the problem.
Thank you guys for the info. I will check the rear end sensor. I don't have any problems with the speedo or odometer though. It comes on after about one revolution of my tires and stays on for good with no apparent driveability problems. It did come on after I installed the fuse and relay for my trailer brakes and battery charging fuse and relay for the trailer towing pkg. ?
