AC Vent Temps???
AC Vent Temps???
Two weeks old and 500 miles on the 04 Lariat and I can blow colder than the AC. As a marine surveyor I use an Infrared Heat Gun on seatrials to check engine and exhaust manifold temps. It's dead nuts on the money. I'm seeing 54-56 degree AC vent temps on my truck. That's not air conditioning......
AC has always been kind of limp since they went from R-12 to R-134 in 93-95, but my wifes 97 Merc Grand Marqui blows 38-42 degrees at the vents. This 04' Lariat has twice the condenser in front of the radiator to handle heat...
One more thing on the list to get right when I go in for the 1000 mile oil change that dealer wants..

I have the same problem. I told my dealer about it and they replaced the ambient sensor, then tested it. They said it was in 'range' after that. Today, it was very humid here and I drove for an hour before I felt the need to turn the A/C down. The weird thing I noticed on my hour drive back home was that when I punched the gas, the A/C would get kind of warm. I don't know if that is normal operation or not, but I wouldn't believe so. My fiance has an 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee and within 15 minutes of being in her car, I have to close the vents for a little while.
I have to take my truck in for a couple other things, so I am going to mention it to them again.
There was a thread a couple weeks ago or so where someone said that their A/C was doing the same thing and he took it into the dealer and now the A/C is excellent. I can't remember right off hand if he said what the fix was. If I can find it, I'll post back.
If you get yours fixed, let me know what they did.
Thanks,
Sully
